The collection includes the history of the taverns and inns in Maine and two photocopies. Includes a map of the taverns and inns in Biddeford. Includes a list of chapters of the Daughters of the American Revolution which contributed to the histories. Includes an index of taverns and inns by town and a general index which were added in 1974. Also includes the text of a radio broadcast given Feb. 12, 1932, Station WCSh Portland by Miss Lelia Hill Hunnewell, founder of Col. Asa Whitcomb Chapter, D.A.R. The paper was compiled by Mrs. Cora P. Watson, State Chairman of National Old Trails, and Miss Hunnewell from material received by Mrs. Watson from various D.A.R. chapters.

Grace Bristol Coffin, the daughter of Mortimer L. and Rosa L. Bristol, was born Nov. 10, 1895 in West Hartford, Conn. A member of the class of 1917 at the University of Maine, she was the first woman valedictorian at the university. She received a master's degree in education from the university in 1955. A resident of Bangor, Maine, Grace Coffin taught general science in the Bangor schools and was active in a variety of university and community organizations. She married Harold W. Coffin in 1918...
